Nuclear Medicine encompasses a range of sciences. These include Medicine, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. From the development and construction of the gamma camera, through the production of radiopharmaceuticals to the processing and display of information for subsequent interpretation, all sciences are represented.

This section briefly describes the equipment and facilities of the Department. It also provides a chart listing relative risks that are undertaken in normal life and their comparison with Nuclear Medicine. Please keep in mind that these are theoretical, worst case figures. Lists of common radioisotopes as well as radiopharmaceuticals is also given.
